My name is Angie Funk and this year marks my twenty seventh year in teaching. I am from Elliott, Illinois and attended school in Gibson City. I graduated from Gibson City Junior Senior High School and went on the Illinois State University where I earned a Bachelors of Arts in English Education. My first teaching position was at Cowden-Herrick High School where I taught English for two years. When Gibson City and Melvin-Sibley schools consolidated in the fall of 1993, I was fortunate enough to be able to come back home as an English teacher. I have been here ever since. I earned my Master's of Education in Curriculum & Instruction from The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN in 1999. I enjoy teaching and I truly believe that GCMS is the best place to work and the students here are top-notch!
On a personal note, I live in Gibson City with my husband of 17 years, Shannon. He works at Horizon Hobby in Champaign. It is safe to say that he is a big kid at heart. He builds rockets, races radio controlled cars, and loves to fix vintage video games. We have TONS of toys in my basement! He and I have two daughters together. Sydney is in 11 grade at GCMS where she is super excited to be involved in chorus, golf, dance, etc. Skyler is in 9th grade at GCMS. She loves golf, basketball, and softball. Our oldest daughter Samantha and her son Cristopher have moved to Gibson City where Cristopher will be a first grader. We all love living in Gibson City and are die-hard Falcon fans. It's great to know that our kids are getting a great educational experience at GCMS and are having fun doing so.
I look forward to another great year here at GCMS!
